How I Pray now

How I Pray now

How I Pray now with my precious time spent listening to God. I haven’t always prayed this way. I made the switch in the early 2000’s.

In my time with our lord, I receive great pleasure daily during my time visiting our lord our God the father. Every response from him, whether immediately or delayed, is an incredible miracle in my life. Our time is very special, it’s not like anything I’ve ever experienced, and I treasure every minute.

Can we be worried, stressed, or have fear and have faith simultaneously? No, it is not possible.

How we look at life XL yesterday, today, and even tomorrow is different. There is always beauty growing after the ugly aftermath of trouble. How we define it is what makes our mood in that time. It is of great value to be able to see and hear the awful and be able; to stay in love with our God and relax in peace knowing he has our back.

Faith of the faithful. Do not forget. Stop and smell the roses. He is there observing us. He answers questions if I ask. He reminds me to have faith and to trust him.

I, just like everyone else, sometimes will go scream or cry if needed. I then pray while talking or just spending time with God, and I am quiet. I will continue until I feel peace and feel he has excused me for the time being, or I think I need to go to sleep or do something God tells me to do. I have fallen asleep while talking with him. Sometimes hours pass, other times only minutes. I may suddenly be refreshed and or extremely happy. I never know what is to come of our time when we begin; I know that I receive a blessing when I feel it.

I may feel him, hear him or see things he is showing me. It is not as often as I would like and probably because I may not be giving my full attention. Whatever the reason, I want those moments with him when I connect with him. It is truly one of the greatest feelings. It is the ultimate peace!

This is how I pray.

Either I am at home or outside in nature in a safe place.

I prefer to sit Indian-style on a meditation pillow if possible. Palms facing up.

I start talking to God for as long as I can. After I pray, I stay in position and sit there.

It is our time. I still have my eyes closed. I will stay an hour or more if possible, in quiet until I get a message or have a feeling of peace, then I savor the moment as long as I can.

This is the secret of my life. My relationship with God, I cherish forever. My precious moments with God.

International Realtor finds Money

International Realtor finds Money

Local Realtor Tracy Elman has extra education and training in grants and funding assistance for new home buyers and experienced home buyers up to 2.6 million dollar earning families, or rebates on homes as high as 10 million dollars.

Elman assists many types of buyers and sellers who need additional money to buy the home of their choice. For instance, need more down payment? How about doubling it when you don’t have it. Veterans and active military have limits but have no out of pocket expenses when keeping within those limits. Elman says, "Yes, there are some grants available for veterans with 100% loans even with construction loans and other assistance money." Coming from another country? Certain circumstances allow for travel expense reimbursement. How about free money for your future HOA dues? Recent college graduate? Have school loans? Qualify for free down payment money assistance.

The number of assistance programs are so massive that it is impossible to have a complete search of grants and programs. However, Elman is very knowledgeable on the subject. In fact more so than most people in the real estate business. The good thing is she loves to help others and she works as a team player. Most of her clients purchase from homes hand picked by Elman then emailed to the client after working with a lender if needed. Then in a session with Elman, she discusses possible free money to assist you in your home or investment purchases.

Elman advises that although she can help people globally the requirements and funds are different in each area. Say a family comes from Japan or China to buy in California, there is a potential program for them. “Every situation is unique,” says Elman. “I really need to know more about the lives of the families to find money for them.”

How Teachers Can Turn Summer Side Gigs Into Year-Round Work

By Guest Blogger Joyce Wilson

While there is no doubt teachers are some of the hardest-working people around, the nature of their job affords them a significant amount of time off. A couple of months every summer, plus a couple of weeks at Christmas (along with various holidays and breaks) means they have time to pursue a side hustle to increase their income. Let’s take a look at a few summer side gigs for teachers that they can also work into their schedule during the school year.

Home Workspace
If you are going to pursue a side gig as a teacher, you should set up a dedicated workspace at home. Designating a specific area where you will work helps you focus and avoid the inevitable distractions that come with working at home. Setting consistent office hours will help with this as well. If your family knows you are working when they see in your workspace at a particular time everyday, they are less likely to interrupt you.

Make sure your workspace has all the equipment you need. Invest in a good laptop computer to start and add what you need as you get into your specific job.

Tutoring
Take advantage of your natural skills as a teacher and set up your own tutoring business during the summers and after school. You could focus on students in your own community who need extra help in your area of expertise; you’ll have a natural market with students at your school. You can also tutor students online through a service such as Wyzant, which matches tutors with students looking for help. Another hot area is test prep. If you have expertise in preparing students for the ACT or SAT, for example, your services will be in demand.

Teaching English as a Second Language (ESL)
There is no shortage of people who want to learn English. If you are good with languages, this may be a great opportunity for you. Local agencies in your community may offer classes, and you can also teach online. VIPKID is an industry leader in teaching English online, for example. You can set your own hours, and because you are teaching kids on the other side of the world, their schedules often match your off hours.

Selling Lesson Plans and Classes Online
As a teacher, you already have a stash of lesson plans you have put together for your classes. Guess what? Other teachers are looking for new lesson plan ideas. Why not package your plans and post them in an online marketplace for teachers?

You could also put your knowledge together into an online course and sell it on a platform like Udemy. The great thing about selling plans and classes online is that once you have put the information together, any income you make from it is passive (not directly tied to continuing time and effort from you).

Freelance Writing or Blogging
If you have writing skills, you can start your own freelance writing business. Whether your focus is magazine articles, website copy, business writing or more, there is boundless opportunity online. You can set up your own writing website or you can sign up for Upwork, which offers freelance services to a large audience.

Also consider starting a blog if you are passionate about a specific subject. While this won’t be an instant payoff in terms of income, consistent blogging over time will attract advertisers and build a loyal audience who will buy information products you create. Use a resource like Smart Blogger to get started.

Any of the ideas listed above can pay off for teachers who want to extend a summer side gig throughout the year. A little online research can turn up dozens of other ideas, including gigs like driving for Uber on nights and weekends or renting out an extra bedroom on Airbnb. You are only limited by your imagination.

3 Facts In A Sharp Interview

https://soundcloud.com/tracy-elman/5-reasons-to-buy-sharp-retention-cutco-tools

I am interviewing Eric from Cutco's Sharp Retention Closing Gifts Company. I have a couple incredibly good knives from them. They really are a great tool. Made in the USA. Eric explains...
We have these awesome engraved gifts, and you can give them to anyone. These engraved gifts are super special. They're Cutco knives, specifically, and Cutco's the best knife you're going to find in the US. It's super sharp. It's all about the quality. Cutco's been around for 90 years, and they've really focused on that quality for those 90 years. These, we engrave them. If you want your information advertised, you can put your information on these knives, and it really makes it special. If you give them to anyone as a gift, they'll have that gift forever with your information on it, and that's what's really special, is that we use our kitchen every day. Other gifts are consumable. Ours are not. If you use it every day, you'll have it 50 years down the road, 90 years down the road, because if you need any type of sharpening or if you damage a handle or something, you'll get that replaced. You can send it in to Cutco, and they'll replace it right there for you. You're stuck with this for good, and you're using it every day, as well.
You can reach Eric  ... Erics phone number is 619-270-9460, and also, you can always reach us at Team@SharpRetention.com. That's an email address. That's T-E-A-M @SharpRetention.com. Also, we have a great website where you can check out all of our gifts. That's just going to be SharpRetention.com.

History of Fighting, Martial Arts and more

Tracy Elman:Hi, I'm Tracy Elman and this is Irvin Burton.

Irvin Burton:Hi, how you doing?

Tracy Elman:Irvin is an amazing trainer in self defense, kickboxing, boxing, martial arts, and more. Tell us about the history of how all of that originated.

Irvin Burton:Well, you're talking about the history of martial arts right?

Tracy Elman:Yes, (affirmative)

Irvin Burton:Well, martial arts started ... It's been alive as long as man has been alive. It's been on every continent in the world. Everywhere from the Americas to China, to Africa. It's been everywhere, even in places like Europe, Asia, Japan. You name it.

Tracy Elman:What year was that?

Irvin Burton:Well, they found evidence of it as early as 4,000 B.C. They've shown pictures on pots in Egypt with boys boxing with boxing gloves on. There's word of 2,500 B.C. where they have wrestling in China. 3,000 B.C. they've got [Pancration 00:01:18], which is the Greek version of MMA. They've got all sorts of things going on. It's been around for thousands of years.

Tracy Elman:That's fascinating. Boxing? Is that the same?

Irvin Burton:Well, boxing's a little different. It's evolved mostly into the sport aspect, but boxing itself has been around for thousands of years as well. It's actually older than most martial arts that we are familiar with. It's older than karate, it's older than kung fu, it's older than certainly a lot older than TaeKwonDo. It's older than most martial arts in existence today. It's pretty much been around since the dawn of man.

Tracy Elman:Wow. Kickboxing? How did that arrive?

Irvin Burton:Well, kickboxing's arrival was different on pretty much every continent. If you're talking about, let's say, China on the Asian front, kickboxing evolved ... Let's take China for example. Kickboxing evolved from basic boxing and using a lot of techniques, using the feet, a little more exotic than the traditional boxing. They used it. China had a different understanding of boxing. To them, boxing meant the use of all limbs, not just the hands. Chinese boxing was really called ... They used to call it the law of the fists, also known as kenpo to be exact. Chinese kenpo was known as boxing. They used everything. They used the back of the hand, the elbow, the forearm, the head, the knee. That was boxing to them. That was Chinese boxing.

If you look at the French, the French had their own form of boxing called savate that evolved in the 1800s. Their form was evolved to make sure that basically they didn't get arrested during that time period. You had a minimum five year sentence for hitting anybody with a closed fist, so they evolved their own form of kickboxing known as savate to avoid charges. Most of the sailors who had to fight a lot used their feet. That's what they did. They used their feet. They didn't use their hands. The most they used their hands to block and [inaudible 00:04:03] out of the way so they wouldn't have to worry about jail time.

In this day and age I teach to a wide range of people, primarily I am teaching to kids, kids kung fu, kids martial arts. They love that. When it comes to adults, I tend to focus a lot more on fitness and/or fighting. It depends on who I'm training with. I've focused a lot on fitness kickboxing, fitness-based boxing, even some martial moves in there added in to spice things up. I've also come in and used self defense training as part of everything.

Tracy Elman:Tell everybody how they can reach you and be in your classes.

Irvin Burton:Sure, yes. You can reach me on Facebook. [Tiger Crane 00:04:59] Martial Arts & Fitness. Ampersand. Not and. Tiger Crane Martial Arts & Fitness or you can reach me directly through my phone number, 661-993-8621. The email address is sifu.irvin.burton@gmail.com.

Weird Facts about Santa Clarita History

Have you ever heard of a drunk farm? I don't know about you, but I hadn't. It's far from a drunk tank. And the funny thing about this article is that I lived literally across the street from this location for four years and never knew anything about the history of this site.

In 1952 LAPD broke ground on building a drunk farm for alcoholic criminals. In 2017, that site is a water treatment plant, and the LAPD doesn't even jurisdiction here. We have L.A. Sheriff's Department. It is still a small town feel in Saugus, in Santa Clarita, California on Bouquet Canyon Road.

Commercial Allience & Green Buildings for Energy Savings

Alliance to Cut Energy Consumption of Commercial Buildings

Commercial buildings account for 18% of the energy consumption and carbon dioxide emissions in the U.S. To reduce that impact, top executives from 19 commercial real estate companies have volunteered to join forces with the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to create the Commercial Real Estate Energy Alliance (CREEA).
The alliance includes executives from CB Richard Ellis, Cushman & Wakefield, Grubb & Ellis, Hilton Hotels Corporation, Jones Lang LaSalle, MGM Mirage, Transwestern, U.S. General Services Administration, USAA Real Estate Company, The Walt Disney Company, Wyndham Hotel and Resorts, American Hotel and Lodging Association, American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers, Building Owners and Managers Association, Illuminating Engineering Society of North America, International Council of Shopping Centers, National Association of Industrial and Office Properties, and the Real Estate Roundtable.
“The deployment of new energy efficient technologies and adoption by both public and private sectors are vital to achieving substantial change in building energy use throughout the U.S.,” said Scott Hine, acting program manager of DOE’s Building Technologies Program. “This collaboration will help speed the adoption of high-performance, energy-efficient buildings by the commercial real estate sector.”
CREEA links building owners and operators with applicable research and technologies being developed at DOE’s national laboratories. The alliance serves as a national forum to share best practices and practical experiences in energy efficiency. It is also a collective buying voice for the industry, encouraging building material suppliers to create more energy-efficient equipment.
CREEA is part of the department’s Net-Zero Energy Commercial Building Initiative, which aims to achieve market-ready, zero-energy commercial buildings by 2025. CBI also includes a National Laboratory Collaborative on building technologies, concentrating the efforts of five National Laboratories on the Net-Zero energy goal, and the Commercial Building National Accounts, which conducts cost-shared research, development and deployment for new building technologies among major national companies.

Bakersfield News: here we go again...

Concerning my recent post. With a comment on this post made by me to make right a misunderstanding. Response by Angela Frantz.

http://www.bakersfield.com/news/opinion/2016/04/01/special-ed-kids-they-re-really-more-alike-than-different.html

Reposted from link above
A recent letter to The Bakersfield Californian attempted to show how the Panama Buena Vista Unified School District’s special education program’s shift to inclusion is a bad idea. Thanks to Tracy Elman, it appears that the plight of the PBVUSD has reached Los Angeles. Unfortunately, neither Harold Pierce’s original article nor the subsequent letters to the editor have addressed the other part of the inclusion picture. I don’t recall reading any comments from parents of students attending schools within the PBVUSD.
I wish Ms. Elman knew what it’s like to be a parent of a child in a class where general education students are learning alongside a student with special needs. Her knowledge of inclusion in the classroom is myopic, at best. I am a parent to two children in the Bakersfield City School District. My husband and I sent our young son off to school, knowing he will be exposed to kids who are different.
I’d like to give the letter writer a bit of insight to my child. He is a bright, charming and engaging kindergarten student. He loves reading, sports and music. He is learning math and started writing his letters just this week. He’s the first to comfort an upset classmate and loves to help others. His classmates love him and are better for knowing him. My son isn’t that different than his classmates.
Yes, I’d like for Ms. Elman to walk in my shoes, as a parent raising a child with special needs in this setting. There have been tears, but they have been caused by people who perpetuate archaic assumptions and stereotypes. My husband and I have fought such ignorance so that our son can be allowed to learn alongside his “typical” peers. My son’s general education classmates treat him as their equal – as do his classmates in his special education class. This year he has made friends in both of his classroom settings. Perhaps the letter writer forgets an important tenet of social development among school-aged children: the way students perceive their peers is shaped largely by the adults teaching them. If bullying runs rampant in inclusive classrooms, one need look no further than the teachers and administrators who oversee these programs. Thankfully, research tells us that this is hardly the case.
A quick online search of “benefits of inclusion” will yield evidence to disprove the preposterous scenarios that are believed to happen when special education students are educated with their peers. Students with special needs actually have better behavior in inclusive classrooms, thanks to the positive behavior modeling from their peers.
They have greater successes both socially and academically than they would when segregated. Likewise, students in the general population can benefit greatly from the inclusion of their peers with special needs. Students learn to value the differences in others. They also retain more of what they are learning in school through the process of assisting their classmates.
My son is learning, growing and maturing. He is learning empathy and cooperation, as are his peers. The school staff know him by name and are genuinely happy to greet him each morning. When my son is an adult, chances are he may be employed by one of his peers who sat beside him on the rug in Mrs. B’s class as they learned the alphabet and days of the week. Our goal is not to raise a child who is dependent on others, but rather an adult who will contribute as a taxpaying citizen.
Ms. Elman is correct. The community needs intervention – now. Children with special needs have, by law, the same rights to education afforded to all children. They will not live in a “special” world when they are adults, so they should not be expected to learn in a “special” school.
Get to know my child. Appreciate him for who he is and not for what makes him “different.” You might be surprised to find he really is “more alike than different.”
Angela Frantz is a wife, mom, and advocate who lives in Bakersfield. She is employed by a regional government agency.

Angela, I am sorry you misunderstood my purpose of my article. It was to make the changes you need and I had. One of my children IS special needs. I am an active parent. He is an adult now and I am still parenting. My child was stuck in mainstream classes for Jr high for 8 months. He was forced to attend Algebra even though he could only do 3rd-grade math. He was bullied by the typical but in addition to them his own biological father and brother. I believe that special ed students should be in special ed and mainstream students should be in their own classes and the above average students where they will do their best. I think it is terrible to mix them all in one class. This was what I wrote. Yes, I do know what I was writing. You may have misinterpreted it. I am sorry.

The Secret to Success
Ask and you shall see

Be good to yourself. Work on yourself. Invest in yourself! You reap what you sow. Work hard play hard. If you don’t truly love yourself you won’t know what love is and have love. You can’t be truly free until “it” finally clicks. It may take 50+ years for it to click, but once it does you can be a huge success. What is “it”? It is different for each person. “It” is a clear understanding within. It means you finally get it! Now you understand. It could be business, or what you feel you are meant to do in life. By exposing yourself to your true passion in life while learning things that will apply to your future at any age, are a sure head start. Help others while helping yourself. Ask for guidance. Ryan Ferguson’s article, “Stop Learning. Start Applying.” Makes a very good point. Just do it! Smile, do it, and be happy.
